Software Technology Park opens for IT start-ups

A Software Technology Park was inaugurated today that will prioritise start-up businesses in the

information technology (IT) sector of Bangladesh.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, information and communication technology (ICT) adviser to Prime Minister

Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the park, located at Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar.

“This is one of my dreams in the ICT sector. Due to several issues, the project work could not be

started in last three years,” Joy said in the inauguration ceremony.

The 60,000 square feet spaced software park will consist of IT firms. “New entrepreneurs will be given priority in the park,” he told during his speech.

This project was announced in 2012, by the first meeting of the Digital Task Force.

“The Software Technology Park will create revolutionary companies from Bangladesh in the likes of

Google and Facebook in the future,” Joy hoped.
Currently, four companies have been allocated space in the park while that of others is underway.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Agargaon’s Bangladesh Computer Council Auditorium in the
capital.
