8.2 % GDP growth projected in budget

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, in his budget speech, has projected the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate at 8.2 per cent in the proposed national budget for 2019-20 fiscal.

 “Our commitment is to achieve the growth rate nearly at 10 percent by FY2023-24 and to maintain the rate until 2041 so that we can lay a solid foundation for becoming a high-income country by the time,” he said.

“To achieve this objective, the GDP growth rate has been projected at 8.2 per cent for the FY2019-20,” he said.

“Alongside this, our goal will be to enhance all business sectors including agriculture, industry, commerce, exports, real estate and services sectors. The effort is initiated to reduce poverty, generate employment, and attract foreign investment,” he added.
