State minister: Power sector will need 1,000 engineers in next 5yrs

State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid has said that Bangladesh's power sector will require some 1,000 engineers in the next five years.
He said, the expansion of the energy sector will create big job opportunities, at the concluding session of the two-day Brac University National Career Fair-2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday, reports UNB.
With Brac University Vice-Chancellor Vincent Chang in the chair, Youth And Sports Ministry Secretary Dr M Zafaruddin, Augmedix Country Director Rashed Noman, and Senior Director of Brac Institute of Languages Syed Sarwat Abed addressed the event.
Urging the youths not to be frustrated with the job market, the state minister said, young people should have confidence in themselves.
"You will get good jobs if you can internalize confidence blended with your own uniqueness," he said.
He advised the youth to become job providers instead of job seekers.
Nasrul added that the government has been promoting youths towards becoming entrepreneurs, by providing different kinds of incentives.
He further mentioned that Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council is providing a maximum of Tk2 crore to each of the projects submitted by young researchers of the country.
